(23 jun. 1894, Hoboken, N.J., EE.UU.–25 ago. 1956, Bloomington, Ind.).

Zoólogo estadounidense, experto en conducta sexual humana. Después de obtener un Ph.D. en la Universidad de Harvard en 1920, enseñó zoología en la Universidad de Indiana, donde fue fundador-director, en 1942, del Institute for Sex Research (Instituto de investigación sobre sexualidad), llamado en 1981 Kinsey Institute for Sex Research, Inc. (Instituto Kinsey de investigación sobre sexualidad). Sus investigaciones sobre sexualidad humana lo llevaron a publicar Comportamiento sexual del hombre (1948) y Comportamiento sexual de la mujer (1953). Estos informes, basados en 18.500 entrevistas personales, recibieron extraordinaria publicidad por sus conclusiones acerca de las costumbres y los comportamientos sexuales contemporáneos. En los últimos años, sin embargo, los métodos y los muestreos estadísticos de Kinsey han sido vigorosamente cuestionados y criticados.
